Church Determining How to Help after Nepal Earthquake

  • 27 April 2015

The humanitarian arm of the Church, LDS Charities, is determining how it can best help relieve suffering caused by the April 25 earthquake in Nepal.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those in Nepal impacted by Saturday’s earthquake and particularly those who have lost loved ones,” Church spokesman Eric Hawkins said.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake near the capital of Kathmandu caused widespread devastation, and the death toll has surpassed 3,000. Thousands more are injured and homeless.

One senior missionary couple from the Church is serving in the area, and they are safe.
