Full-time Peruvian Missionary Dies from Illness While Serving in Bolivia

A full-time missionary from Peru serving in Bolivia passed away Wednesday, December 5, following a brief illness.

Elder Brian Lezama Sanchez, 26, of Cajamarca, Peru, who had been serving in the Bolivia La Paz El Alto Mission since August 2017, died while being transferred to a hospital after receiving medical treatment at another hospital. The exact cause of death is undetermined.

“We express our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones and pray they will be comforted and sustained during this time,” said Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff.
