LDS Motion Picture Studio Seeks Actors

Do you look like the Apostle James? Would that woman at the bank make a great Mary Magdalene? Does your co-worker remind you of a Roman soldier?

A film project re-creating important stories from the New Testament is now in production, and the LDS Motion Picture Studio is looking for people to be a part of it.

To help re-create the world of ancient Jerusalem and tell the stories of the New Testament, the studio is looking for individuals who could be made to look as if they’d stepped out of the pages of the New Testament.

Everyone—seasoned actors, amateur performers, even people with no experience at all—is encouraged to participate.

This unique project represents the first time the Church has filmed all of the major stories from the New Testament for members to use for personal inspiration, gospel study, and missionary opportunities. Filming will begin in the spring of 2011 on the Church’s studio backlot near Salt Lake City, Utah.

To give potential actors a feel for what the production will be like, the studio has released a recently completed segment based on the New Testament’s parable of the good Samaritan.

To apply, go to the casting Web site. The producers hope that applicants will spread the word about the film project and invite friends, family, and others to get involved.
