New Era Special Issue Showcases Duty to God, Personal Progress

  • 29 August 2011

The September issue of the New Era will be a reversible magazine. Starting from one side, readers will learn about the blessings of Personal Progress. By flipping the magazine and starting from the other side, readers will learn about the blessings of Duty to God.

In an effort to help youth reach their potential and in order to help them and their parents and leaders understand how Personal Progress and Duty to God can help, the New Era has created a special “flip” issue in September. One side of the magazine will feature Duty to God, and the reverse, Personal Progress.

“The youth of the Church have been given a great trust and mission,” said Elder Shayne M. Bowen of the Seventy. “Their participation in Duty to God and Personal Progress will help them fulfill their responsibilities and reach their full potential. We hope this issue will assist them in these efforts.”

The magazine will also help explain the purposes and some of the major changes to Duty to God and Personal Progress over the past few years.

“Anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the purposes of Duty to God and Personal Progress will be well served to study this issue of The New Era,” Elder Bowen noted.

A special middle section will feature real responses from young men and women sharing what they find appealing about those who keep Church standards.

The New Era has been tailoring the gospel to teenagers for 40 years.

“This special issue can also be a wonderful resource for parents and youth leaders to help young men and young women achieve their goals in Duty to God and Personal Progress,” Elder Bowen said.
