The Church News has been asked to express gratitude on behalf of President Thomas S. Monson for the many cards, letters, and other greetings sent to him on his 88th birthday, which was August 21.

Part of President Monson’s schedule included going to his office, as well as attending a reception held in his honor in the Church Administration Building.

His counselors in the First Presidency (President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor), Sister Harriet Uchtdorf, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, members of the Seventy, and other Church leaders were among those who gathered to wish him a happy birthday.

A group of singers from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed for President Monson; they were accompanied on the piano, as well as by a violin trio.

Please see the Church News article about President Monson’s reminiscing on his birthdays over the years.
