Every three years, artists from around the world participate in a theme-based competition hosted by the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City. Many well-beloved pieces of LDS artwork have come from these competitions.

Submissions for the 10th International Art Competition at the Church History Museum will be accepted through February 27, 2015.

The International Art Competition is open to all members of the Church age 18 and older. Each artist may submit one piece of art that reflects the theme “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus.” All submitted art will be reviewed, and selected art will be featured in an exhibit that runs fall 2015 to summer 2016.

Art media may include painting, drawing, illustration, textile arts, photography, printmaking, sculpture, clay and ceramic materials, leather, wood, stone, metals, and mixed-media pieces. Art of diverse cultural and aesthetic traditions and styles is welcome. The artwork size limit is 84 inches (213 cm) in the longest dimension. Submitted artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2012.

Art will be judged on artistic merit, thematic alignment, innovation, and worldwide representation.

Of the art featured in the exhibit, three will be selected as Visitor’s Choice Awards, up to 20 will receive Awards of Merit, and some pieces may be selected for purchase by the museum.
