Neongo ia, ʻi he taimi ʻe fāifai pea tau fakavaivaiʻi ai kitautolu ki he finangalo ʻo e ʻOtuá, ko ʻetau toki foaki moʻoni ia ha meʻa Maʻana! Ko e koloa pē ia ʻoku ʻatautolu moʻoni ke foakí!”2

Siʻoku ngaahi tokoua ʻofeina, ʻoku ou fakamoʻoni, kuo pau ke fai ʻo hangē ko e lea ʻa ʻEletā Mekisuelé ʻo “fakavaivaiʻi kitautolu”3 ki he ʻEikí, ka tau lava ʻo hoko ko ha meʻangāue ʻi he toʻukupu ʻo e ʻOtuá, maʻu kakato e ngaahi tāpuaki kuo foaki kiate kitautolu ʻi he “moʻui ní,” ʻa ia ʻoku “tau fakahoko ai ʻetau ngaahi ngāué.”4

Meʻapango pē he naʻá ku taʻefiemālie mo puputuʻu ai. Taimi ko iá ne tātātaha pē ke u lau ʻo ʻosi e Tohi ʻa Molomoná. Naʻe ʻikai ha toe veiveiua ʻeku taʻe mateuteu ke ngāue fakafaifekaú. ʻI heʻeku feinga ke maʻu ha nongá, ne u toe liunga ua ʻeku ʻalu ki he temipalé. Ne u fakalaulauloto ki he ʻuhinga ʻo e ngaahi fuakavá ʻi ha founga ne teʻeki ke u fai ki muʻa. Naʻe hoko ʻa e ngaahi fuakava ʻo e temipalé he ngaahi taimi mahuʻinga ko ʻeni ʻo e moʻuí, ko ha fakavaʻe mo ha fakalotolahi kiate aú. ʻIo, naʻá ku ilifia, ka ne u ʻiloʻi kuó u fai ha fili ke fai ha ngaahi tukupā fakatāutaha, tuʻuloa mo toputapu ʻa ia kuo pau ke u tauhi pau. Hili ko iá, ʻoku ʻikai ko ha ngāue ʻeni ia ke fai ʻe ha taha kehe. Ko hoku uiuiʻi fakafaifekaú ʻeni, pea ne u fakapapauʻi te u ngāue.

Naʻe hanga foki ʻe he tamai ʻa Siosefa Sāmitá ʻo foaki ange e ngaahi tāpuaki ko ʻení kiate ia: “Kuo ui koe ʻe he ʻEiki ko ho ʻOtuá mei he langí. Kuo uiuiʻi koe . . . ke fai e ngāue maʻongoʻonga ʻa e ʻEikí, ke fai ha ngāue ʻi he toʻu tangatá ni ʻoku ʻikai . . . toe fakahoko ʻe ha taha kehe tatau mo koe, ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ʻo fakatatau mo e finangalo ʻo e ʻEikí.”6 Naʻe uiuiʻi ʻa e Palōfita ko Siosefá ki hono fatongia makehe ʻi he “ngāue maʻongoʻonga ʻa e ʻEikí,” pea neongo ʻeku ongoʻi lōmekina mo taʻemateuteú, naʻá ku ʻiloʻi kuo uiuiʻi foki au ki hoku tufakanga ke fakahokó. Naʻe tokoni moʻoni e ʻilo ko ʻení mo ne fakalotolahiʻi au.

ʻI heʻeku ngaahi lotú, ne u hokohoko fehuʻi ai, “ʻE Tamai, te u lava fēfē ʻo fakahoko e meʻa kuó Ke uiuiʻi au ke faí?” ʻI ha pongipongi ʻe taha ki muʻa peá ma mavahe atu ki he malaʻe ngāue fakafaifekaú, naʻe haʻu ha toko ua ʻo ʻomi ha meʻaʻofa—-ko ha kiʻi himi ke u ʻalu mo ia. ʻI he ʻaho tatau pē, naʻe maʻu e tali ki heʻeku ngaahi lotu tāutapá mei he tohi himi ko ia. ʻI heʻeku kumi ki ha nonga ʻi ha feituʻu maomaonganoá, ne ongo mahino mai e ngaahi lea ko ʻení ki hoku ʻatamaí:

“ʻOua naʻa manavahē, ʻoku ou ʻiate koe.
He ko ho ʻOtuá au pea te u tokoniʻi koe.
Te u fakamālohia, tokoniʻi mo fokotuʻu maʻu koe,
Hoku nima angatonu mo mafimafí ke pukepuke hake koe.”7

Ko e kamataʻangá pē ʻa ʻeku ʻiloʻi fakatāutaha ko ia te u kau fakataha mo faitokonia au ʻe he ʻEikí. Naʻe kei lahi ha ngaahi meʻa ke u ʻilo fekauʻaki mo e hoko ko ha meʻangāue ʻi he toʻukupu ʻo e ʻOtua.

ʻI heʻema kamata ngāue mo hoku husepānití ʻi ha fonua foʻou mo mamaʻo mei ʻapí, ne ma hangē ko e kau paioniá ʻo tui ʻi he foʻi laka kotoa pē. Ne ma tuēnoa moʻoni he taimi lahi—ʻo feinga ke ʻiloʻi pē homa halá ʻi ha anga fakafonua ne ʻikai mahino kiate kimaua—pea mo ha ngaahi lea fakafonua ne ʻikai ke ma lava ʻo leaʻaki. Naʻe hanga ʻe he ongo ne maʻu ʻe ha taha ʻo e kau fuofua taki ʻo e Fineʻofá ʻi Nāvuú, ʻo fakamatalaʻi e ongo ne ma maʻú: “Kuó ma kamata e ngāué ni ʻi he huafa ʻo e ʻEikí. Tau laka atu ki muʻa ʻi he lototoʻa.”8

ʻOku kehekehe pē ʻeku fononga he moʻuí meiate kimoutolu. ʻE lava ke mou taki taha akoʻi au mei he ngaahi meʻa kuo mou aʻusia ʻi hono fakavaivaiʻi homou lotó ki he finangalo ʻo e ʻEikí, ʻi hoʻomou fekumi faivelenga ke ʻiloʻi Hono finangalo maʻamoutolú. ʻE lava ke tau fiefia fakataha ʻi he ongoongolelei ʻo Sīsū Kalaisi kuo toe fakafoki maí, mo fakahaaʻi loto houngaʻia ʻa e ngaahi tāpuaki ʻoku maʻu mei heʻetau fakamoʻoniʻi ʻa e Fakamoʻuí mo ʻEne Fakalelei maʻatautolú. ʻOku ou ʻiloʻi . . . ʻoku ʻikai faingofua ʻetau ngaahi feinga fakatāutaha ke hoko ko ha “meʻangāue ʻi he toʻukupu ʻo e ʻOtuá” pea kuo tau tupulaki fakalaumālie ai—ʻo fakatupulaki ai ʻetau ngaahi fononga fakamatelié ʻi ha ngaahi founga fakatāutaha mo nāunauʻia.
