Saturday Morning, 30 September 1978, Welfare Session

Under the direction of Donald Ripplinger, with John Longhurst as organist, the congregation sang two hymns: “How Firm a Foundation” (Hymns, no. 66) and “Do What Is Right” (Hymns, no. 27).

Saturday Morning, First General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold Ottley and Donald Ripplinger, with organist John Longhurst, sang “Praise to the Lord” (Hymns, no. 150), “Oh Lord, I Would Hear Thy Word” by Merrill Bradshaw (Sonos Music Resources), “Behold Thy Servant, Lord” (including “We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet,” with congregation) by Darwin Wolford (manuscript—not available), “Lead Me into Life Eternal” (Hymns, no. 141), “How Long, O Lord, Most Holy” (Hymns, no. 69), “Choristers of Light” by Katherine Davis (Galaxy Music Corp.), “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” by Teschner/Alexander Schreiner (J. Fischer), and “O Thou Rock of Our Salvation” (Hymns, no. 130). The congregation sang “Hope of Israel” (Hymns, no. 64).

Saturday Afternoon, Second General Session

The Mormon Youth Chorus, directed by Robert C. Bowden, with organist Roy Darley, sang “I’ll Go Where You Want Me to Go” by Rounsefell/Darley (manuscript—not available), “O Lord God” by Tschesnokoff (Boston Music Co.), and “I Need Thee Every Hour” (Hymns, no. 79). The congregation sang “Come, Come, Ye Saints” (Hymns, no. 13).

Saturday Evening, General Priesthood Meeting

The combined men’s chorus from the Tabernacle Choir and Mormon Youth Chorus, directed by Jerold Ottley and Robert Bowden, with organist Robert Cundick, sang “Rise Up, O Men of God” (Hymns, no. 332), “Pilgrim’s Song” by Tchaikovsky (J. Fischer), and “The Lord Is My Shepherd” by Koschat/Lyon (manuscript—not available). The congregation sang “Let Us All Press On” (Hymns, no. 98).

Sunday Morning, 1 October 1978, Third General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold Ottley and Donald Ripplinger, with organist Robert Cundick, sang “God of Our Fathers” (Hymns, no. 54), “More Things Are Wrought by Prayer” by Elinor Warren (H. W. Gray), “‘Tis Sweet to Sing the Matchless Love” (Hymns, no. 187), “Sweet Is the Peace the Gospel Brings” (Hymns, no. 191), “I Believe in Christ” by Rhea Allen (Deseret Book), “Hallelujah (Mt. of Olives)” by Beethoven (Oliver Ditson Co.), “For I Am Called by Thy Name” by Crawford Gates (Sonos Music Resources), “I Will Greatly Rejoice” by Joseph Roff (Hope Pub. Sunday Afternoon, Fourth General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold Ottley and Donald Ripplinger, with organist John Longhurst, sang “Guide Us, O Thou Great Jehovah” (Hymns, no. 56), “Psalm 149” by Robert Manookin (Sonos Music Resources), and “Behold, This Is the Way” by Robert Cundick (manuscript—not available). The congregation sang “The Spirit of God Like a Fire Is Burning” (Hymns, no. 213).
