Joseph Smith the Prophet
Joseph Smith the Prophet

Event Description
Joseph Smith the Prophet is an original sacred oratorio celebrating the life of the Prophet from his vision in the Sacred Grove to his martyrdom at Carthage. This program will be presented in the Tabernacle on Temple Square on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.

Joseph Smith the Prophet was written by Rob Gardner for choir, orchestra, and soloists. It premiered in Provo, Utah, while Gardner was a student at Brigham Young University. This inspiring piece has been performed around the world, testifying to thousands of the divinity of the Prophet Joseph's call.

This presentation includes powerful new arrangements of "The Spirit of God," "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief," and "Praise to the Man," as well as original compositions "Savior, Redeemer of My Soul," "O Give Me Back My Prophet Dear," and "My Kindness Shall Not Depart from Thee."

This special Temple Square performance will feature the 300-voice Spire Chorus and full orchestra, with special guest soloists, including Jordan Bluth, Angela Bower, Daniel Beck, Michael Sackett, Greg Adams, and Suzanne Disparte. Rob Gardner, the composer, will conduct the chorus and orchestra.
