Conference Experiences

“Conference Experiences”

Comments sent to the Ensign about general conference.

Before general conference I often pray that a talk will address an issue that troubles me or someone I love. I'm so grateful when my prayers are answered through one of God's servants. For me, it makes conference a personal tutoring session.
Lara K., California, USA

Elder Hales's Saturday morning April 4, 2009 talk was very applicable to me. As he shared personal experiences, I reflected on my past and present life of spending. I am reminded of my own weaknesses, and I am eager to sit down with my husband and discuss a future plan for holidays and celebrations where we spend more wisely. I am thankful for such a powerful talk on provident living.

This conference had a very serious but positive spirit. It has outstanding counsel for all.
Thomas T., Germany Hamburg Mission

I'm thankful beyond words for the gift of the gospel, the prophet, the Apostles, and all General Authorities called by the Lord, who help me become who I am meant to be.
Natalia M., Texas, USA

It was my first time going to conference. It was a really great experience. Hearing the prophet speak was very cool. After leaving, I was left with a renewed sense of fulfillment.
Lavander B., Arizona, USA

As a single mother I sometimes feel very lonely. But when it was explained that Jesus knows how it feels, he has felt the loneliness that grips my soul, he knows the ache that sits within me, it made me cry. I thank God for understanding and giving me the courage through these talks to go to church with my head held high.
Rhonda C., Wyoming, USA

Conference is always wonderful—the principles of the gospel never get old. How thankful I am for a prophet and those willing to serve and lead us. The messages were heavenly.
Terri S., Ohio, USA

I prayed and studied the scriptures to help me hear things I wanted and needed to know. I was swept along by the righteous desire to work harder and to be the best I can be. I felt the Spirit in abundance and came away with a full heart.
Elizabeth E., Iowa, USA

I cannot think of a time when I looked forward to conference more. It is such a breath of fresh air to hear words of truth, encouragement, inspiration, and guidance in this world of noise, confusion, lies, and discouragement. I thank God from the bottom of my heart for modern-day prophets.
Gary G., Idaho, USA

I loved all of the talks. Each time we have general conference I feel like the talks were made for me. This conference when Elder Hales spoke of provident living and how we need to be prepared, the Spirit was so strong. I will try to do what Heavenly Father desires of me, and I know that with His help I will be able to save some money and increase my food storage.
Sherri M., Utah, USA

This conference made me feel once again that these are the last days and the Lord does really want all of us to be saved by the Atonement of His son Jesus Christ. I love my leaders and really appreciate their teachings.
Richard W., Colombia

I was able, for the first time in my life, to attend general conference at the wonderful Conference Center in Salt Lake City. I felt the Spirit so strongly during the choir's performance of “O, My Father.” We are so blessed to have the choir invite such a strong spirit to our conferences. To hear from the living prophet and Apostles is such a blessing. My testimony was strengthened and my spirits lifted. I look forward to conference every six months. I cannot wait until October!
Jenny P., Washington, USA

Isn't general conference absolutely wonderful! Every six months we hear encouraging words from our leaders as they teach us to do better and give us the hope to go out and implement their words.

I am so thankful for the Ensign. It has become my lifeline as we go through these hard times. The wonderful talks today will fill next month's issue. My favorite talk was from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. It was the perfect talk for this Easter season.
Megan G., Utah, USA

I watched the first session of conference with my 10-year-old grandson. I had a kit for him to follow what the talks were about. He asked many questions. It was wonderful to share my thoughts with him. There seemed to be a special spirit with us both.
Joan D., Utah, USA

This was my first time attending general conference in person. The one impression that keeps coming back to my mind is how strong the Spirit was inside the hall. It struck me so powerfully as we found our seats and stayed with me until we walked outside.
Lois S., California, USA
