Public to Tour Fresno California Temple
Open House and Dedication Dates Announced
The public is invited to tour the newly completed temple of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fresno, California.
Latter-day Saint temples are considered "houses of the Lord"
where the Savior's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism,
and other sacred ordinances that unite families for eternity.
Church President Gordon B. Hinckley has said he wants to make the blessings
of the temple more accessible to Latter-day Saints, many of whom must
travel considerable distances. Plans call for 100 temples to be operating
by next year. Currently, nearly 11 million people belong to the worldwide
Church.
Public tours of the Fresno California Temple will begin on Saturday,
March 25, 2000. No tours will be offered on Sunday, March 26, but tours
will resume on Monday, March 27 and continue through Friday, March 31.
The public may also tour the temple on Monday, April 3 and Tuesday, April
4. Following the public open house, the temple will be formally dedicated
on Sunday, April 9. There will be four dedicatory sessions. The temple
will be open on April 10.
