New Collection of Church History Videos on DVD Available

An exciting new DVD compilation of Church history videos, including footage many have never seen before, is now available for members to purchase. This DVD set, titled Church History, is a Home and Family Collection intended to enrich instruction and learning in the home.

The set includes three DVDs containing 29 videos that take viewers on a visual journey through a century and a half of Church history. Many of the segments are quite rare. One segment, “LDS Leader of the Past,” includes black-and-white footage from the first half of the twentieth century.

The set contains 7 hours and 48 minutes of Church history videos and is packaged with a booklet that includes ideas and questions for discussion.

“It's not just a collection of videos,” said Robb Jones, development designer for the Church Curriculum Department. “We designed it to be a teaching and learning tool for individuals, families, and teachers.”

Sold individually for $6.50 each (item #54116 ), or $4.25 each when a case of 38 is ordered, the Church History Home and Family Collection DVD set is available at distribution centers. It is only available in English since many of the individual videos were not translated into other languages.

Work on the project began three years ago, when the Curriculum Department and other church departments first considered the idea of transferring existing VHS to DVD. Hundreds of Church-produced videos were reviewed. The final selection and approval process took one year, while production took place over the last two years.
