| The purpose of Sunday Relief Society meetings is to give women the opportunity to learn the doctrine and principles of the gospel that will help them increase faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and seek out and help those in need. |
“Teach the doctrines of salvation; supply spiritual food; bear testimony of our Lord’s divine Sonship—anything short of such a course is unworthy of a true minister who has been called by revelation. Only when the Church is fed the bread of life are its member kept in paths of righteousness” (Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3 vols. [1966-73], 2:178).
A Call to All Ward Relief Society Presidents and Sisters
In the May 3, 2009, CES fireside Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles gave the following counsel:
“Today I raise an apostolic voice of warning about the potentially stifling, suffocating, suppressing, and constraining impact of some kinds of cyberspace interactions and experiences upon our souls. . . . I plead with you to beware of the sense-dulling and spiritually destructive influence of cyberspace technologies that are used to produce high fidelity and that promote degrading and evil purposes” (“Things as They Really Are,” CES fireside for young adults, May 3, 2009).
As a Relief Society general presidency we encourage Relief Society presidents to counsel with their bishops in considering using this talk as a first Sunday lesson. We are grateful for your diligent service.

Gospel Teaching - Our Most Important Calling; William D. Oswald, Ensign, Nov. 2008, 95-98 (running time 5:21)
"Teaching the gospel is a sacred and holy calling. When you love your students and call them by name, when you open the scriptures and teach from them, and when you encourage your students to ponder the truths of the restored gospel and apply them, then your influence for good will be magnified and the lives of your students will be blessed more abundantly."
