Relief Society was "divinely made, divinely authorized, divinely instituted, divinely ordained of God" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 184). The Lord through His prophets has called 14 women to direct this auxiliary in the ongoing work of administering comfort to those in need and promoting the spiritual welfare of the women of the Church.
