Use only approved curriculum materials, which include the scriptures, manuals,
and Church magazines. Instructors and class members should not replace these
materials with other texts and study guides that have not been approved for the
class. Any enrichment materials, adaptations, or personal experiences should
be examined prayerfully to ensure that they support the gospel message being
taught.
“Leaders should encourage teachers to teach lessons in the order they
are presented in the manuals to help ensure that all topics planned for the
year are taught and to maintain consistency throughout the Church” (Information
for Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders on Curriculum, 2005 through 2008).
The general Young Women curriculum consists of three lesson manuals, one
of which is used each year. The Young Women manuals to be used in the coming
years are as follows:
Young
Women Manual 1 2006
Young Women Manual 2 2007
Young Women Manual 3 2008
Other approved resources include the scriptures, Hymns, and the Church Magazines.
Each issue of the magazines contains suggestions on how to use the magazine
materials to enrich lessons. An annual topical index is published in the
December issue of each magazine. Resource guides are included in the general
conference issues (November and May) of all magazines.
The Young Women manuals do not include a specific Easter or Christmas lesson.
If you want to teach a special lesson for these holidays, consider using conference addresses, Church magazine articles, and hymns that focus on the
life and mission of the Savior.
Curriculum for Smaller Wards and Branches
In areas where general Young Women curriculum materials are not yet available
in the language or where directed by the Area Presidency, Young Women leaders
may use The Latter-day Saint Woman, Part A and Part
B for Sunday instruction.
Additional information is available in the Information
for Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders on Curriculum, 2005 through
2008.
