Sister Cheryl C. Lant was sustained as the 11th general president of the Primary in general conference on Saturday, April 2, 2005. She is married to John G. Lant Jr. and is a mother, grandmother, and an educator of young children. She has served in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations of the Church.
