As the first member of her family to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sister Matsumori was lovingly guided by Primary teachers, Young Women leaders, and Relief Society sisters. She has tried to follow their example as she has served in those auxiliaries.

She and her husband, Jim, are the parents of three children.
