Each Young Women presidency member instructs and advises the class officers for her assigned age-group. Adult leaders teach leadership skills and help class presidencies fulfill their responsibilities (see "Young Women," section 4 of the Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2: Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders [1998], 218).
Adult leaders prepare young women to lead through example and conversation in formal and informal settings. They teach their happiness about gospel covenants, womanhood, husbands and children, marriage, gospel standards, and Relief Society.
Young women learn from their leaders' solutions to problems and how they handle difficult situations. They learn from the language leaders use, the way they dress, and the way they extend themselves to others. (See Teaching, No Greater Call [1999], 121; Young Women Camp Manual [2002], 81.)
