Young Women Activation Tools

Activations tools

The following Young Women programs and activities can assist leaders as they strive to help each young woman stay active in and become converted to the Church:

  • Mutual and Other Activities

Mutual and other youth activities provide excellent opportunities to involve all youth and assure that each has a friend, a responsibility, and the opportunity to have her faith strengthened.

  • Sunday Lessons

Sunday Young Women meetings are an excellent place for young women to feel the spirit of the Holy Ghost and learn of Christ and His gospel. Young women should be encouraged to reach out in friendship and kindness to all who attend.

  • Personal Progress

The Personal Progress program helps a girl strengthen her testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. It provides an excellent opportunity to bring together missionaries, ward and branch leaders, and family members to help less-active young women and those who are investigating the Church.

  • Class Presidencies

Class presidencies can assist in activating and retaining youth as they fulfill their responsibility to "care for each class member" ("Young Women," section 4 of the Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2: Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders [1998], 218).
  • Transitioning into Womanhood

As young women move to Relief Society, Young Women leaders can assist them in making the transition to being fully active adults.

Example of retention and the impact a dedicated auxiliary leader can have on inactive youth (running time, 3:19). Given by Elder Mervyn B. Arnold in the April 2004 general conference. See " 'Strengthen Thy Brethren,' " Ensign, May 2004, 46–48.
