Young Women Who Have Disabilities

Young women who have disabilities are normally included in their regular classes. Exceptions may be made with the approval of the parents and the priesthood leaders. Flexibility may be needed in utilizing the approved programs to meet the needs of these young women.

Disability Resources are available through lds.org to offer support, comfort, and an increased level of acceptance toward those with disabilities. This site includes helps, teaching tips, and additional resources on a wide range of disabilities.

For additional information about understanding, including, and teaching young women who have disabilities, see pages 310–14 in the "Gospel Teaching and Leadership" section of the Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2. Those pages also outline how to organize and administer special Mutual programs or classes for young women who have disabilities. (See Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2: Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders [1998], 227.)
