Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: John 3–4.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading John 3 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. The lesson for this week suggests as additional reading the "Living Water" entry in the Topical Guide.
Art
The lesson manual lists a picture from the Gospel Art Picture Kit and a map that you can use during your lesson (see lesson manual, page 18). These visual helps are available online or in your meetinghouse library. To see these visuals online, click on the titles in the list below.
For suggestions on using pictures in your class, read "Pictures" and "Visuals" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 176, 182–83.
Videos
The lesson manual suggests a video segment you could use as part of your lesson (see lesson manual, page 18). Click the video title below to see a listing for this video in the online Church Distribution Services catalog.
For information on using videos in your class, read "Audiovisual Materials" in Teaching, No Greater Call, page 160.
Suggestions for Teaching
- The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "Knowing that individuals are responsible to learn the gospel, we may ask, What is the role of teachers? It is to help individuals take responsibility for learning the gospel—to awaken in them the desire to study, understand, and live the gospel and to show them how to do so" (lesson manual, page 18; quoted from Teaching, No Greater Call, page 61).
- The suggested attention activity for this lesson shows an image of a healthy plant and a wilted plant (see lesson manual, page 19). You can view this image online by accessing the original layout, or PDF version, of the lesson. The PDF version is available for all New Testament lessons.
