Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Mark 1–2; 4:35–41; 5; Luke 7:11–17.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passages as additional reading: Matthew 8–9; Luke 4:33–44; 5:12–32; 8:22–56; Alma 7:11–12; Mormon 9:7–20; Moroni 7:27–29, 33–37.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading Mark 1 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. The lesson for this week suggests as additional reading the entry "Miracles" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 26).
Art
The lesson manual lists pictures from the Gospel Art Picture Kit that you can use during your lesson (see lesson manual, page 26). These pictures are available online or in your meetinghouse library. To see these pictures online, click on the picture titles in the list below.
For suggestions on using pictures in your class, read "Pictures" and "Visuals" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 176, 182–83.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "Class members need to know why the teachings in the scriptures are important today. As you prepare each lesson, prayerfully consider what you can do to encourage class members to apply gospel principles in their lives (see Teaching, No Greater Call [36123], pages 159–60)" (lesson manual, page 26).
