Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Matthew 15:21–17:9.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passages as additional reading: Mark 7:24–9:10; Luke 9:18–36; 12:54–57.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading Matthew 16 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. The lesson for this week suggests as additional reading the entries for "Revelation" and "Transfiguration, Mount of" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 53). The lesson also suggests using a map of the Holy Land in New Testament times, which is available in the maps section of Latter-day Saint editions of the Bible (map 11 for editions printed in 1999 or later; map 14 in printings before 1999).
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "The LDS edition of the King James Bible contains many scripture study aids, including footnotes, chapter headings, maps, the Topical Guide, the Bible Dictionary, and excerpts from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible. Use these resources in preparing and teaching your lessons, and help class members learn to use them in their personal scripture study" (lesson manual, page 53).
