Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Luke 15; 17.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passages as additional reading: Matthew 18:11–14.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading Luke 15 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
Art
The lesson manual suggests pictures from the Gospel Art Picture Kit that you can use during your lesson (see lesson manual, page 73). These pictures are available online or in your meetinghouse library. To see the pictures online, click on the picture titles in the list below.
- The Prodigal Son, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 220 (this picture is shown to the right)
- The Ten Lepers, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 221 (not available online)
For suggestions on using pictures in your class, read "Pictures" and "Visuals" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 176, 182–83.
Videos
The lesson manual suggests a video segment you could use as part of your lesson (see lesson manual, page 76). Click the video title below to see a listing for this video in the online Church Distribution Services catalog.
For information on using videos in your class, read "Audiovisual Materials" in Teaching, No Greater Call, page 160.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "Jesus often asked questions to encourage his listeners to apply the principles he taught (see Matthew 16:13–16; Luke 7:41–42). Prayerfully prepare questions that will encourage class members to participate in discussions and will help them understand and apply the principles being taught (see Teaching, No Greater Call [36123], pages 63–70)" (lesson manual, page 74).
