Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Luke 18:1–8, 35–43; 19:1–10; John 11.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passages as additional reading: Mark 10:46–52; Luke 11:5–13.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading John 11 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. For example, the lesson for this week references the entry for "Faith" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 77).
Art
The lesson manual suggests pictures from the Gospel Art Picture Kit that you can use during your lesson (see lesson manual, page 77). These pictures are available online or in your meetinghouse library. To see the pictures online, click on the picture titles in the list below.
- Christ Healing a Blind Man, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 213 (this picture is shown to the right)
- Christ Raising Lazarus from the Dead, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 222 (not available online)
For suggestions on using pictures in your class, read "Pictures" and "Visuals" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 176, 182–83.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching:
"President David O. McKay said, 'You can teach effectively only that which you yourselves feel' (Gospel Ideals [1953], 190). Seek through study, prayer, and obedience to strengthen your testimony of the principles you are teaching (see Teaching, No Greater Call [36123], pages 12–19)" (lesson manual, page 77).
