Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Matthew 21–23; John 12:1–8.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passages as additional reading: Matthew 26:6–13; Mark 11–12; 14:3–9; Luke 11:37–51; 19:29–48; 20; John 12:12–18.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading Luke 20 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. For example, the lesson for this week references the entries for "Pharisees," "Sadducees," and "Spikenard" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 81).
Art
The lesson manual suggests a picture from the Gospel Art Picture Kit that you can use during your lesson (see lesson manual, page 81). This picture is available online or in your meetinghouse library. To see the picture online, click on the picture title in the list below.

For suggestions on using pictures in your class, read "Pictures" and "Visuals" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 176, 182–83.
Videos
The lesson manual suggests a video segment you could use as part of your lesson (see lesson manual, page 85). Click the video title below to see a listing for this video in the online Church Distribution Services catalog.
For information on using videos in your class, read "Audiovisual Materials" in Teaching, No Greater Call, page 160.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "As you prepare to teach, you should do more than merely read the assigned scriptures. Study each scripture block at least three times. The first time, read it to comprehend what the passages contain. Then study it more carefully, looking for principles, doctrines, and significant events. Then read it again, determining which passages will best meet class members' needs and planning ways to discuss those passages" (lesson manual, page 81).
