Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Matthew 28; Luke 24; John 20–21.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passage as additional reading: Mark 16.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading Matthew 28 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. For example, the lesson for this week references the entry for "Resurrection" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 112).
Art
The lesson manual suggests pictures from the Gospel Art Picture Kit that you can use during your lesson (see lesson manual, page 112). The pictures are available online or in your meetinghouse library. To see the pictures online, click on the picture titles in the list below.
- Burial of Jesus, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 231 (not available online)
- Jesus' Tomb, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 232
- Mary and the Resurrected Lord, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 233 (this picture is shown to the right)
- Jesus Shows His Wounds, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 234
- The Resurrected Jesus Christ, Gospel Art Picture Kit, no. 239
For suggestions on using pictures in your class, read "Pictures" and "Visuals" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 176, 182–83.
Music
The lesson for this week suggests using "He Is Risen" (Hymns, no. 199), "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today" (Hymns, no. 200), or "Did Jesus Really Live Again?" (Children's Songbook, 64) as part of your lesson (see lesson manual, page 115). For information on using music in your class, read "Music" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 172–74.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "The Lord's commandment to Peter, 'Feed my sheep' (John 21:16–17), applies to all teachers. Prayerfully seek ways to make the spiritual food of the scriptures appealing to class members so they will want to feast on it (see Teaching, No Greater Call [36123], pages 5–7)" (lesson manual, page 112).
