Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Acts 15:36–18:22; 1 Thessalonians; 2 Thessalonians.
- The teacher's manual also includes the following scripture passage as additional reading: 1 Corinthians 2:4–5, 10–13.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading 1 Thessalonians 1 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. For example, the lesson for this week references the entry for "Pauline Epistles: Epistles to the Thessalonians" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 129). The lesson also suggests using a map of Paul's second missionary journey, which is available in the maps section of Latter-day Saint editions of the Bible (map 13 for editions printed in 1999 or later; map 20 in printings before 1999) (see lesson manual, page 129).
Videos
The lesson manual suggests a video segment you could use as part of your lesson (see lesson manual, page 129). Click the video title below to see the listing for this video in the online Church Distribution Services catalog.
For information on using videos in your class, read "Audiovisual Materials" in Teaching, No Greater Call, page 160.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "Class members have a responsibility to come to class prepared to ask questions, contribute insights, share experiences, and bear testimony. Encourage class members to prepare for class by studying the scriptures and praying daily. Express interest in and appreciation for class members' contributions to the class" (lesson manual, page 129).
