Public Affairs
Step 1: Initial Checks

  • Determine whether your public affairs council has maintained a database or other record of contacts with the local media. If not, you will need to establish your own system, as suggested under step 3, "Develop a Media Database."
  • Check to see whether a Church spokesperson has been designated in your stake or whether the director of public affairs (DPA) or media assistant handles that responsibility.
  • Make sure media representatives have current telephone and e-mail addresses of the designated DPA to contact in case they need information about the Church.
