Gospel Doctrine teachers: The lessons in the manual contain more information than you will probably be able to teach in one class period. Seek the Spirit of the Lord in selecting the scripture accounts, questions, and other lesson materials that best meet the needs of class members.
Basic Resources
- To read the lesson or to see the class member study guide section for this week, click on the pictures above.
- You can read the assigned scriptures for this week online: Romans 1–16.
- Would you like to listen to an audio recording of the scriptures in this week's lesson? Try listening to or downloading Romans 1 (MP3 format), which is in this week's reading. For more New Testament audio, click here.
- The official scripture study aids often have helpful information you can use in your lessons. For example, the lesson for this week references the entries for "Grace" and "Pauline Epistles: Romans" in the Bible Dictionary (see lesson manual, page 150).
Music
The lesson for this week suggests using the songs "I Am a Child of God" (Hymns, no. 301, or Children's Songbook, 2–3) or "I Feel My Savior's Love" (Children's Songbook, 74–75) as part of the lesson (see lesson manual, page 150). For information on using music in your class, read "Music" in Teaching, No Greater Call, pages 172–74.
Suggestion for Teaching
The lesson for this week provides this suggestion for teaching: "In his epistle to the Romans, Paul reminded teachers of the importance of living the principles they teach (Romans 2:21–22). Your example can teach class members more than your words. Show class members that your testimony of gospel principles comes from living those principles each day (John 7:17)" (see Teaching, No Greater Call [36123], pages 18–19; lesson manual, page 150).
