Aaronic Priesthood Quorum Presidency Meeting

What is an Aaronic Priesthood quorum presidency meeting?

The Aaronic Priesthood quorum presidency meeting is a regularly scheduled meeting. In the case of the priests quorum, the bishop is the president and his two priests quorum assistants, the quorum secretary, and the quorum adviser attend the meeting. For teachers and deacons quorums, the quorum presidency and the secretary attend the meeting, along with a member of the bishopric and the quorum adviser. (See "Aaronic Priesthood," book 2 of the Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2: Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders [1998], 184.)

What is the purpose of this meeting?

This meeting has the same basic purposes as the Aaronic Priesthood committee meeting, except it is geared to the individual quorum. The agenda, which is set by the presidency with guidance from the bishopric member and adviser, could include items like these:

  • Review previous assignments to members of the quorum presidency.
  • Receive report by quorum president from the Aaronic Priesthood committee meeting.
  • Discuss the needs of quorum members and plan how to meet those needs.
  • Assign specific individuals to respond to the bishop's instructions or to meet other needs.
  • Plan quorum meetings and Mutual activities, including Scouting and joint Young Men–Young Women activities.
  • Make appropriate weekly assignments to fulfill quorum duties. (See "Aaronic Priesthood," 184–85.)

As you watch the video, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who attends the quorum presidency meeting?
  • Who presides at this meeting?
  • Who conducts?
  • Although this is not a complete meeting, what agenda items are covered? What are some additional items that could be covered?

Therefore, what?

After watching the video, consider what you will do and what you will help your young quorum leaders do in response to the video. Ponder and answer the following questions:

  • What did you learn by watching this segment from a quorum presidency meeting? How can you and the young quorum leaders in your ward apply these lessons?
  • What role do the adult leaders play during the meeting?
  • How do you see the Aaronic Priesthood committee meeting relating to the quorum presidency meeting?
  • What promptings did you receive?
