Why These Temples?

In teaching about temples, President Gordon B. Hinckley (1910–2008) refers to questions that nearly everyone has pondered:

“Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? What is my relationship to my Maker? Will death rob me of the treasured associations of life? What of my family? Will there be another existence after this, and, if so, will we know one another there?” The answers, he teaches, come not from the wisdom of the world, but from the revealed word of God taught in temples.

”The work that goes on in these buildings sets forth God’s eternal purposes with reference to man, who is God’s child and creation.”

—President Gordon B. Hinckley
