Visit the brick home the Kimball family occupied less than a year before they abandoned the abode and faithfully gathering with the Saints for the westward trek.
Heber C. Kimball, born in Vermont in 1801, was a blacksmith and potter by trade. Before building this beautiful brick home in 1845, the Kimballs lived in a small log and brick home on the back of their property. Five months after moving into their new home, the family had to abandon it because of mob violence. The Kimballs joined the Saints' trek west, planning to start over and build a new city.
Restored by J. Leroy Kimball, Heber C. Kimball's great-grandson, the brick residence represents the period with a broad collection of antiques, some with family connections.
