The First Presidency has announced that groundbreaking services for the San Juan Puerto Rico Temple will be Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Elder Walter F. González, Caribbean Area President, will preside at the event.

The temple site is located at 123 Calle Ronda of Urbanización Villa Andalucía in San Juan’s Trujillo Alto area. Attendance at the site is by invitation only. It is anticipated that the services will be transmitted via the internet to stake centers within the proposed temple district.

The Puerto Rico Temple was first announced October 7, 2018, by Church President Russell M. Nelson.

The temple will be the first in Puerto Rico and the third in the Caribbean, following the existing and operational Santo Domingo Dominican Republic Temple and the under-construction Port-au-Prince Haiti Temple, which will be dedicated September 1, 2019.
