Inside front cover: Winter Retreat, by Larry Winborg, 18″ by 30″, oil, 1979. Brigham Young moved into this adobe and pine home in St. George, Utah, on 15 December 1873. In order to avoid the harsh weather in Salt Lake City and to supervise construction of the St. George temple, he spent his remaining winters here.

Inside back cover: Adam-ondi-Ahman, by Al Rounds, 20″ x 28″, watercolor, 1987. Courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Martineau. On 19 May 1838, the Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith that Spring Hill, Missouri, “is named by the Lord Adam-ondi-Ahman, because, said he, it is the place where Adam shall come to visit his people, or the Ancient of Days shall sit, as spoken of by Daniel the prophet.” (D&C 116.)
