“Summer Morning,” Friend, June 1980, 22
Summer Morning
Looking out my window, I see birds that fly
And soar and dip in the wide blue sky.
Daisies, roses, daffodils
Blossom, explode, and paint the hills.
There’re daddy longlegs, ladybugs,
Creeping, crawling things;
Things with stripes, things with dots,
Butterflies with wings.
Can you see why my favorite things
Of all the ones I know
Are summertime and morning
That I see from my window?
