Sharing Time:

Conference—a Time for Listening

During general conference, which is held twice each year, we have the blessing of listening to instructions from the General Authorities of the Church. The Lord has said, “What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken; … my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by my own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same” (D&C 1:38).

We should listen carefully to the messages given by the speakers during conference and show our gratitude for the blessings that we receive by being obedient to their counsel. Use this activity page to help you listen to conference.

Instructions:

  1. Read all of this page before conference begins so that you will know what to listen for.

  2. Use pen or pencil and colored pencils, markers, or crayons to answer the questions, and follow the instructions given in My Conference Report.

  3. Give your conference report at family home evening.

Sharing Time Ideas

  1. Prior to conference, prepare a copy of this page for each child. Encourage children to complete the page and bring it back the week following conference.

  2. Assign several children to show pictures of General Authorities who spoke. Information about a General Authority can be found in “Friend to Friend” articles that appear in the Friend each month.

  3. Emphasize what children should do because of what they heard at conference. Explain what accountability and responsibility mean.
