Those wishing to be "up and doing" can serve the Lord through a Church-Service Missions when a proselyting mission isn’t possible due to physical, mental, or emotional challenges. Church-Service Missions have enabled Elder and Sister Lake to serve with their two daughters who were born with cerebral palsy and cytomegalovirus.
Whether working online at home or serving in a bishop's storehouse, Church-Service Missionaries are helping people all over the world.

Believe In Miracles

Elder Holland’s General Conference talk entitled “Like a Broken Vessel” was highlighted in this month’s Conference Notebook section of the Ensign where he discussed mental and emotional health challenges.
“Believe in miracles. I have seen so many of them come when every other indication would say that hope was lost. Hope is never lost. If those miracles do not come soon or fully or seemingly at all, remember the Savior’s own anguished example: if the bitter cup does not pass, drink it and be strong, trusting in happier days ahead.”

Serving Amidst Adversity

Brittany keeps an eternal perspective by serving others. In a closed-caption video on the LDS Youth website she teaches that, by "reaching out to others you really forget your own problems.”
While her medical condition may have changed her life substantially, one thing remains the same: her belief in God and His ability to “lift us up.”

Kuha’o is a piano prodigy who not only shares his divinely given talents with his ward, but with the world as well. February Friend Highlights Primary Children with Disabilities

"If you don't walk as most people do, some people walk away from you. But I won't! I won't!" In this month's issue of the Friend, children were encouraged to welcome, befriend and learn from those with disabilities. In the colorful two page spread, children with disabilities are highlighted in school and church settings.
As stated in the 2013 Primary Leadership Training, "Having children with a disability in our Primary is not a problem to be solved but rather, an opportunity for the whole primary. The Lord is aware of these children."
