Alexandre Mourra, the first member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Haiti, was taught by missionaries and baptized in Florida, USA, in 1977. He returned to Haiti and shared the gospel in his homeland. By July 1978, 22 people had joined the Church and a branch was formed, with Brother Mourra as president. Today, the Church in Haiti has:

  • 24,900 members (approximately)

  • 5 stakes, 48 congregations, 1 mission

  • 1 temple in Port-au-Prince

Blessings of the Sabbath

Brother Richard Merisma, who lives in Port-au-Prince, shares, “The scriptures teach us that the Sabbath is a blessed and holy day that God created for us to renew our relationship with Him. It is also the perfect opportunity for families to spend time together, deepen their love and respect for each other, and build unity.”
