Prevent stiff necks...

04/19/24 | 1 min read
Both physically and spiritually!

Have you ever woken up with a stiff neck? How does it feel right now? Here are three stretches to loosen it up.

Do them sitting up straight with relaxed shoulders. Be sure to breathe and move gently!

  1. Lower your chin to your chest. Hold for 20 seconds and then slowly lift your chin back to starting position.
  2. Turn your head to the right and look over your shoulder. Hold for 20 seconds and slowly bring your head back to the center. Repeat on the left side.
  3. Without moving your shoulders up, tilt your head so your ear is toward your right shoulder. Hold for 20 seconds and slowly bring your head back to the center. Repeat on the left side.

Okay, now let’s talk about another type of stiff necks—the spiritual kind. Lots of scriptures warn us not to be “stiffnecked.” But what does that mean exactly?

We are spiritually stiffnecked when we are hardhearted, stubborn, rebellious, or prideful. These bad attitudes can get in the way of us receiving guidance and blessings from the Spirit.

Here are three things we can do to make sure we don’t get stiffnecked spiritually:

  • Pray humbly each day to be filled with charity.
  • Sustain the prophet and follow his guidance.
  • Pay tithing and give a generous fast offering when we can.

What other holy habits do you think can prevent spiritual stiffneckedness?
