It’s recorded in a language called Khmer!

You might recognize this song—it’s called “Witness” from last year’s youth album. It begins with a powerful testimony of how prayer can soften our hearts and help us be less selfish.

Scroll down for the original lyrics in English!

As Elder Ulisses Soares said in this month’s For the Strength of Youth magazine, “the testimony and strength you receive through prayer can help you to serve and strengthen others.”

We’ll be sharing a different song about prayer each day this week, so check back tomorrow!

To Think About

How has prayer helped you change into a more loving, Christ-like person? If you don’t have an experience with that yet, maybe this week would be a great time to try it out.

“Witness”
I see the waters part
When I kneel down and pray.
I’ve seen my selfish heart
Soften and change.

Through the silence,
I can’t stay quiet.
I’ll shout it out to the sky
Wherever He takes me,
Every day of my life.

Chorus:
I will try to be like Him,
Shine a light in the darkness.
I’ll be a witness
And live the way He lived
At all times and all places.
Whatever happens, I’ll be
A witness of all His love,
A witness of what He’s done.
I’ll stand and tell everyone
In all times and all places.
I’ll be a witness.

I’ll raise my hand and say
I’ve been saved by His love.
My Savior took my place,
And after all He has done,
Through all the silence I won’t stay quiet.
I’ll shout it out to the sky
Wherever He takes me,
Every day of my life.

[Chorus x2]
