Area President Biography

Christoffel Golden

The Africa South Area welcomed Elder Christoffel Golden as its President in August 2021. As the President of the Africa South Area, he serves alongside Elder Edward Dube (First Counselor) and Elder Ciro Schmeil (Second Counselor).

Elder Golden was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2001.

Before this call, he was serving as President of the Europe East Area.

Previously, Elder Golden served as an Area Seventy for the Africa Area and Africa Southeast Area. He has also served as a counselor in the Africa Area Presidency and as President of the Africa Southeast Area, First and Second Counselor in the Africa West Area, and Executive Director of the Priesthood and Family Department at Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City.

Christoffel Golden was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 1, 1952. He married Diane Norma Hulbert in December 1981. They are the parents of four children.

Elder and Sister Golden say that it is a special privilege to return to the land of their birth and to serve among their fellow saints in South Africa and southern Africa.
