Africa South Area Says Goodbye to Elder Ciro Schmeil and Sister Alessandra Schmeil

The Africa South Area bid a grateful farewell to Elder Ciro Schmeil and Sister Alessandra Schmeil at the end of May.

Elder Schmeil served as the second counsellor in the Area Presidency from November 2020 to May 2022 and was supported by his wife, Alessandra. Notwithstanding the limitations of COVID, Elder and Sister Schmeil taught, led and uplifted many of our members in several countries in the Area.

They were especially able to connect with the Saints in Mozambique and Angola, having in common with these Saints the first language of Portuguese. One of the Schmeils’ assignments was to oversee missionary work in the area. It seems fitting that the couple now heads off to preside over the Orlando Florida Mission.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to them for their service and wish them well in this exciting new call.
