How Can I Prepare for the Second Coming of Christ?

Paul taught that the day of Jesus Christ’s return would come “as a thief in the night,” comparing it to “a woman with child” suddenly going into labor (1 Thessalonians 5:2–3). These metaphors illustrate that Christ will come at a time we don’t expect.

Even though we don’t know exactly when the Second Coming will happen, we can be ready when it does. Here are four ways we can prepare.

I can share the gospel with others.

“We are the people charged with ushering in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ; we are to gather God’s children, those who will hear and embrace the truths, covenants, and promises of the everlasting gospel.”¹

I can invite the Holy Ghost through my actions.

“We do our very best to protect our daily experiences so the influence of the Holy Ghost remains with us. We are a light to the world, and when necessary, we willingly choose to be different from others.”²

I can make and honor covenants with God.

“The power we need to withstand the heat of our day is the Lord’s power, and His power flows through our covenants with Him. … Even when we stumble, He is there.”³

I can attend the temple more regularly.

“The crowning jewel of the Restoration is the holy temple. Its sacred ordinances and covenants are pivotal to preparing a people who are ready to welcome the Savior at His Second Coming.”⁴
